LASIK half off at UTMB Health Eye Center

UTMB Health Eye Center is offering LASIK at half off the regular price. This limited offer includes a complete screening, examination and follow-up.  The procedure is performed by experienced, qualified senior residents using state-of-the-art bladeless LASIK under the direction of an experienced faculty LASIK surgeon. Free financing is available. Call 281-687-7022 to schedule a free screening evaluation. Offer expires April 30, 2012.  The UTMB University Eye Center, with locations in Galveston and Friendswood, is affiliated with the UTMB Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, one of the nation's leading institutions for the research and treatment of eye diseases. 

Public invited to celebrate opening of UTMB’s new Comprehensive Maternity Center

After delivering nearly 20,000 babies in the three years since Hurricane Ike, the department of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Texas Medical Branch will open a new, state-of-the-art Comprehensive Maternity Center at UTMB’s John Sealy Hospital. Reconstruction and renovations at UTMB meant that the department moved around since Ike. But Feb. 15 marks a new era when the public is invited to join the UTMB community for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and reception from 4 to 6 p.m. at the new facility, located on the third floor of the hospital, Eighth and Market streets in Galveston. The 32nd Annual School Health Conference – Caring for the Health of Our Children - held on the UTMB campus on Saturday, February 4, was a tremendous success.  UTMB Health extends heartfelt appreciation to all who attended and participated in the conference. You are invited to attend a breakfast and program on "Procedures and Drugs that Worsen Quality of Life for Dementia Patients" presented by Mukaila Raji, MD from 8 to 9 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 9 at the Island Community Center in the Community Room, 4700 Broadway.
